What are the difference between BSCI audit and SEDEX audit?

Source: 2019-10-14 11:35 by admin What are the difference between BSCI audit and SEDEX audit? Read: 16415

The BSCI audit requires suppliers to ensure that all subcontractors involved in the production process on behalf of BSCI members up to the final production stage comply with the BSCI Code of Conduct. The end customer BSCI member can only conduct the audit after the authorization, mainly from the company's document data, management model, employee human rights and workplace, production facilities, fire equipment, living facilities, environmental sanitation, plant construction, food and entertainment, etc. The social responsibility review will be carried out and the results will be uploaded to the BSCI official website in the form of a report.

SEDEX audit is reviewed using the ETI standard and is applicable to all industries. SEDEX has been favored by many large retailers and manufacturers, and many retailers, supermarkets, brands, suppliers and other organizations require farms, factories and manufacturers to participate in SEDEX member ethics audits to ensure their operation meets the requirements of relevant ethical standards, and the results of the audit can be recognized and shared by all SEDEX members, so the supplier can save many duplicate audits from customers by accepting the SEDEX audit.

The BSCI audit and the Sedex audit are the most audited standards we can hear. So what are the same and different points?

The same points:

1. Some customers who accept the Sedex standard can accept BSCI.

2. SEDEX certification and BSCI certification are all audits on supplier social responsibility.

The differences:

1. BSCI certification is to advocate for the business community to comply with the social responsibility audit of social partners of BSCI members.

BSCI audits mainly include: compliance with laws, prohibition of child labor, prohibition of forced labor, freedom of association and collective bargaining rights, prohibition of discrimination, compensation, working hours, workplace safety, environment and safety.

At present, BSCI has absorbed more than 1,000 members from 11 countries, most of which are European retailers and buyers. They will actively promote their BSCI certification in countries around the world to improve their human rights situation.

2. SEDEX certification is also called ETI audit or SMETA audit. The SEDEX audit is also a social responsibility audit. It has many similarities with the general social responsibility audit, mainly for the labor, health and safety and environmental aspects of the supplier; but it also has its own special place, such as The maximum working hours of the week. At present, the UK and other related countries require their subordinate factories to pass the SEDEX audit. The main members of Sedex include TESCO (Tesco), P&G (P&G), ARGOS, BBC, M&S (Martha) and so on.

3. BSCI certification is mainly for EU-based EU customers, while SEDEX certification is mainly for European-based European customers. Both of them are membership systems, and some member customers are mutually recognized, that is to say, they have done a BSCI audit or a SEDEX audit, some members of BSCI or SEDEX are recognized. In addition, some guests are members of both institutions.
