The OCS certification standard is a private standard and the standards development organization is the Textile Exchange (‘TE’). The organization is a textile trading association is a membership-based international non-profit organization. The organization's mission is to encourage people to accelerate their participation in, and create conditions for, the practice of sustainable textile value chains.
OCS certified any non-food product containing 5-100% organic raw materials. Such as textiles (fiber products, yarns, fabrics, clothing, etc.), cosmetics.
The organic content standard OCS certification is a standard for tracking and verifying organic raw materials and verifying the presence of organic raw materials and quantities in the final product. The standard provides a complete supply chain supervision system that regulates the entire process from organic to raw materials. An open, transparent, comprehensive and consistent independent assessment and verification of the content of organic raw materials in products through an authorized third-party certification body. OCS can be used as a tool for commercial trade between companies, ensuring that companies purchase products that contain organic ingredients as claimed. The OCS standard can also be used as a statement to the consumer.
The OCS standard reviews product processes within and outside the company, from raw material verification, post-harvest processing, manufacturing, packaging and labeling, warehousing, operations, transportation, to the final seller of commercial trade. Therefore, all the companies, from the first processing after harvesting in the field, to the final commercial trade (business-to-business trade, B2B), the seller must participate in the certification.
The OCS certification standard is another organic standard that is widely recognized and accepted worldwide in addition to GOTS certification. From the standard to the present, it has been widely used in the world for the certification of organic textiles. OCS certified organic content products can enter major markets.
