Starbucks believes that adhering to ethical business and doing everything right is critical to the company's success. Working in this direction, Starbucks has established the following scoring systems and methods to measure the performance of suppliers in social and environmental affairs. The letters received by the factory will determine their current and future business relationship with Starbucks, and the factory must make a commitment to continuous improvement. The score is based on Starbucks' assessment of the performance of the plant. The ratings range from Starbucks' supplier social responsibility standards for manufactured goods and services.
The indicators in the Starbucks audit project score range can correspond to the risk levels defined below:
Moderate problem (M):
Usually a "process" problem. Lack of records, lack of control, and/or lack of processes have prevented employees from avoiding minor injuries; they have not provided benefits as agreed upon in the contract and have not fully protected employees from harsh treatment.
Critical problem (C):
Usually the "implementation" problem. The management did not protect the health and well-being of employees well; it did not provide compensation and benefits according to law; it did not give environmental health and good protection to the local community.
Serious Problem (S): A failure of a critical system or process that can result in death or serious injury to the employee (this includes loss of life, physical disability, or permanent damage to bodily functions).
Zero Tolerance Problem (ZT, not negotiable): If the company does not meet the zero tolerance requirement, it will receive a ZT rating.
During the Starbucks audit, the auditor will record each problem and add up the zero tolerance, serious, critical, and moderate problems found in the assessment, corresponding to the scores that are ultimately represented by the letters.
