At the 2010 China Textile and Apparel Corporate Social Responsibility Report Joint Conference, Li Jingwei, Chief Representative of BSCI China, said that BSCI has 568 members and is the largest socially responsible organization in Europe. China is the most important sourcing country for our members. As the number of members continues to expand, more and more brands and retailers are engaged in the practice of building responsible supply chains.
It is understood that BSCI is the abbreviation of the Business Advocacy Social Responsibility Association. It was initiated by the European Foreign Trade Association in March 2003. It is an open business-driven social responsibility for retailers, producers and importers outside the EU and the EU. It is a membership system. A collection of retailer brands. Members hope to reduce risk in the supply chain through a common social responsibility monitoring mechanism of BSCI's third parties.
Li Jingwei said that China Textile Industry Association is one of BSCI's most close strategic partners in the world. Looking back on the cooperation in the past three years, we have to mention two milestones. On May 18, 2007, China Textile Industry Association and European Foreign Trade Association signed a strategic cooperation agreement on social responsibility construction in Beijing. According to this agreement, the two parties formed a partnership to promote responsible supply chain, and determined information exchange and joint development and improvement. Training materials on supply chain social responsibility to promote positive cooperation in the construction of the supply chain. At the Social Responsibility Summit of the Supply Chain Social Responsibility Summit on November 18, 2008 and the 2008 China Textile Industry Association Supply Chain Social Declaration, the China Textile Industry Association and the European Foreign Trade Association signed a supply chain cooperation declaration. The two parties agreed to jointly adopt CSC9000T. The two systems with BSCI use a tool called evaluation to achieve mutual recognition of the CSC9000T and BSCI systems.
Li Jingwei believes that the issue of social responsibility in the supply chain is very complicated. Only through strengthening cooperation can the core value of social responsibility be realized. I hope to take this opportunity to further reaffirm the commitment of the European Foreign Trade Association to cooperate in the field of supply chain and corporate social responsibility. We believe that through our common exploration and efforts, we will be able to establish a responsible supply chain and make new and greater contributions to the new international trade order.
