The global recycling standard GRS certification is the latest research and development achievement of textile and garment recycling standards, and one of the focuses of high-end textiles.
GRS certification is based on integrity, including the five major requirements of traceability, environmental protection, social responsibility, recycling signs, and general principles.
The first company in the world to obtain GRS certification is the US FILDI company. In 2010, Flidi in the United States produced Ecotec recycled cotton blended yarn to become the first product to achieve GRS certification. The company's recycled cotton blended yarn is made from “pre-consumer waste” recycled materials, which were originally produced from recycled textile waste. If these scraps are not reused, they will be transported to the dump for landfill disposal. The company collects unwanted waste from its cutting process, sorts it by color, reprocesses it, mixes it and spins it into gauze. It not only reduces the disposal of waste, but also uses the color of the waste fabric to dye, saving the printing process and reducing the discharge of sewage.
Therefore, the use of recycled cotton blended yarn not only saves land resources, water resources, reduces the insecticide used in cotton planting, but also promotes the development of global recycling standard GRS certification.
